Gourami

Gourami are popular freshwater species known for their unique labyrinth organ, which allows them to breathe air from the surface, enabling them to thrive in low-oxygen environments. Species like the Dwarf Gourami (Trichogaster lalius) and Pearl Gourami (Trichopodus leerii) are native to slow-moving rivers and swamps across Asia. They are generally peaceful but can exhibit territorial behavior, especially males. A well-planted aquarium with calm waters suits them best.
